Strategic Partnerships for Policy Impact: Multi-Stakeholder Engagement for Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in Asia
Effective engagement and strategic partnerships are significant drivers to advance the achievement of the 2030 Agenda objectives. Multi-stakeholder engagement often faces many challenges due to limited resources and being supply-driven. This may result in compromising the inclusivity of actual beneficiaries to be represented in the process.
Questions such as “what’s the best approach in building successful partnerships?” or “how do we influence policy makers?” are frequently raised. Thus, there is the need for strategic partnerships with greater levels of trust to facilitate more constructive and inclusive dialogues.
This session will discuss key transboundary issues on climate change, environmental sustainability alongside gender equality and social inclusion to create meaningful impact as well as showcase meaningful multi-stakeholder engagement and how it contributes to the empowerment of local communities and marginalized groups in co-creating knowledge and formulating the policy agenda and actions.
Session objectives:
- Highlight how multi-stakeholder engagement empowers local communities and marginalized groups and enables co-production of knowledge and influence policy agenda;
- Share learning and experience of different partnership approaches for policy actions and outcomes;
- Identify potential synergies and collaboration to drive inclusive and sustainable policy at local, regional, and global levels.
